Next September I will take on a big challenge. I will walk in the Avon Breast Cancer 3 Day walk. I and hundreds of others will walk sixty miles from Santa Barbara to Malibu.
I am walking to honor my coworker Fe Cosico who is battling breast cancer. Fe is an inspiration to those that know her.She is undergoing chemo and radiation therapy. I felt I could do little, but offer sympathy. It is not enough. By joining thousands of others,I can make a difference to find a cure for this terrible disease.
I have actually started training. I have a long way to go but with your help and support I will make it. We know the statistics. 182,000 women will be diagnosed this year with Breast cancer. That's 500 women a day! 80% of women with breast cancer have no family history or predispostion to the disease. 40,000 women will die from breast cancer this year.
